Building the future of sustainable construction with Bekaert
Bekaert’s proud to share a behind-the-scenes look at the new SD Worx headquarters project by Van Laere NV on behalf of WorxInvest and supported by Bekaert’s Dramix® steel fiber technology.
This ambitious project aims for BREEAM Outstanding certification, putting sustainability and innovation at the forefront.
One of the biggest challenges?
A watertight foundation slab for a -4 level parking garage under significant water pressure.
Our solution?
A hybrid reinforcement design combining traditional steel mesh with Dramix® steel fibers, delivering:
- Superior crack control and durability.
- Reduced CO₂ emissions.
- Faster, more efficient construction.
+ To guarantee quality, we use our Dramix® EyeD Streamer, a certified device monitoring fiber distribution in every pour!
Bekaert’s thrilled to collaborate with Van Laere NV on this landmark project and demonstrate how innovation drives sustainable construction.
Check out the video below and learn more about the project from Yannick Franken (Bekaert), Tibo Blauwaert (Bekaert), and Thomas Quirynen (Van Laere NV)!
Tibo Blauwaert, Tehnical Manager at Bekaert Sustainable Construction:
“The foundation of this application uses a hybrid solution combining steel mesh with Dramix® steel fibers. The benefit is that it improves durability, crack controlling, reduces the conventional steel use, and lowers CO₂ while speeding up construction. The Dramix® 4D steel fibers strengthen the concrete ensuring the watertightness class 1.”
